Its a Beautiful Day

What a day SATURDAY MARCH 18 was.

1. The Cats travelled to Adelaide and left two large monkeys there.
2. Australia beat South Africa within 3 days.
3. Labour held a majority government in the state election.
4. Australia won a swag of gold at the Commonwealth Games.

In a total surprise the cats gave us long suffering supporters something to purr about, breaking a 43 year old hoodoo of not winning any sort of silverware and also breaking an interstate hoodoo. Yes its only a pre season comp that i have recently called DRAB, i gave my own team no chance of travelling to Adelaide and pulling off an upset, The cats proved me and the whole of Australia wrong and thats what makes it all the better. Well Take it

Much to the dismay of big mouth captain Grahame Smith Australia has rolled South Africa within 3 days of play and hopefully now silenced there big mouthed moronic players. yes SA chased down our mammoth 436 last week in a ODI but the fact they couldnt score that in two innings of a test when it really counts is proof in the pudding really. Id like to congratulate Mark Boucher for getting hit in the chest, gloves, head and balls twice before being out for 2 off 21 balls, This was the highlight of my night and considering everything else that went on this was no easy feat. This humbling defeat was also more incredible based on the fact Warnie only took 3 wickets for the test, look out when he fires.

Stewie Clark took 9 in the test
and helped flatten South Africa

Tasmanias Labor government was returned with a majority, this election was considered by many to be a lot closer than this and all the talk leading up to it was about a minority government. I hope that Labor with the support of the public now continue to lead Tasmania into a brighter future and dont become stale and content. Im greatful that the Liberals havent been given another chance to lead the state back into debt and the gloomy days of the 1980's. If the greens ever held power god help us wed all be living in bark huts with bicycle powered electricity generators.

Winners are grinners!

I sat back on the couch and watched australia win 5 gold medals in the pool, 1 at the velodrome, 1 in the weightlifting, a couple in the gymnastics, and the mens and womens triathlons. The women swimmers are on fire they win nearly every event they are in and usually pick up a silver or bronze if not all of the medals in every event, as for the guys they are having a shocker, without Thorpie and Hackett we seem to struggle for a gold. Im sure they are all giving everything they have and they are to be admired for that, but we need to put in some work to get our younger fellas up there to a truly international level, to ensure our domination of the last few years in the pool continues.

A Great Day!

Commonwealth Games

Not Since 1850 has an Australian had a better chance of leaving Victoria - Gold nugget in hand.

A Nugget

Lets face it turning up to your sporting event at the commonwealth games as an Australian will pretty much guarantee you a medal of some description, and more than likely GOLD.

It must be really strenuos to dive into a pool and beat some native from Lesotho who only saw water for the first time 6 weeks ago, or you could go lawn bowling against the team from Montserrat who have been practicing with lava rocks down on the beach.

I dont mean any disrespect to any athletes, given if I had a semi amount of sporting ability and the will to get off my arse id be there and proud aswell. So as soon as Darts is a recognised sport ill be putting in the hard training hours needed down at the local pub.

Lets face it Australias sporting dominance over the other countries of the commonwealth is no hidden secret, as for South africa saying they are going to beat us this time i wanna know at what? a sooking contest? maybe hookey? all i know is it wont be something that happens with any regularity.

South Africa better get used to seeing this flying above the dias

As for the opening ceremony, how many tax dollars just went up in smoke? what is with Cathy Freeman being given the same respects as Herb Elliot and Marjorie Jackson in the baton relay? as far as i remember Cathy won one olympic gold medal, plenty of other Australian athletes have done that, why didnt they get to run the baton in? maybe they could all run a lap? wed have enough to keep the baton moving for another month yet.

Dean Lukin should have ran the baton in

This Patriotic Ocker will be watching the Commonwealth games, beer in hand and enjoying the demolition job.
For a country of only 20 million we should be getting beat up by countries like South Africa, India and England. But when that medal tally after 11 days of competition is displayed i know who will be on top, by a long way, and ill be loving it.

Australia Rules!

NAB cup

WHAT A JOKE!

Should be renamed to the DRAB cup.

what is the point in playing the final in Adelaide? why not just give the trophy and $200,000 to the crows and save Geelong the trouble of making the trip.

I wonder if Geelong had been the team that had scored the most goals during the tournament if the final would be played down at skilled stadium UNBLOODY LIKELY.

So thank you to the AFL for ensuring that the pre season comp continues to be an unfair and pointless exercise, and unlike 10 years ago now means NOTHING.

Motorcyclists

Im sick and tired of hearing about motorcyclists winging they don’t get a fair go on the roads.

Maybe there right, maybe we don’t consider them enough, maybe popping wheel stands, driving at excessive speeds, making 4th and 5th lanes at traffic lights, and making massive amounts of noise at 4am in SUBURBAN ROADS is acceptable.

my hero!

Okay the jokes over,

yes bikes are often harder to see and I agree with road safety advertisements that point this out to the public, however if the biker wasnt doing 100kph in a 50 zone then maybe they wouldn’t find themselves getting pulled out on.

Example:
A few months ago after work I was leaving the car park, depending on where you are heading this may require you to cross three lanes of one way traffic. A colleague was in front waiting to cross I was behind her and could see the road to our right (direction of traffic) it was clear except for a bike that just turned into the street about 200m away.
My colleague took off, if the bike was doing 60kph I would have made it across as well, The biker obviously feeling the need to break laws decided to come onto the throttle, I could hear it from my car. Obviously not paying attention to the fact that ahead of him my colleague was crossing, in the 5 seconds it took her to get the car moving and cross three lanes, the biker had travelled 200 metres and come to a complete stop to avoid ending up in her lap. I would have judged his speed at being well over 100kph. (in a 50 kph zone)

Nice story your thinking, well it doesn’t end there, He races off after shaking his fists at her car and when we have to stop at the next set of traffic lights he is there waiting, (after having done a block of town and we have moved 300 metres, just to give you an idea of this guys disregard for speed laws).
He is on the wrong side of the road between our two cars (we are turning in different directions) banging on her window and yelling abuse, I of course shared a few choice words on the matter with him as well. JERK!

I would also like to quickly thank the bloke who lives up the road and drives past my house every night in the early hours at full noise at what must be over a 100kph (50 zone) your wake up calls are awesome.

The problem is they think that the toy run (excuse to drink drive) once a year excuses them from being law abiding citizens, Its about time motorcyclists were properly monitored even if it includes restrictions to engine sizes.

All these motorcycle accidents pushing up our MAIB premiums (car rego’s) you have to ask yourself was it because the guy in the car didn’t look, or is it because the guy on the bike was being AN IDIOT!

My apologies to the few mates I have who ride bikes, Im sure your behaviours aren’t this ignorant and disregarding.

Most bikers are ignorant and rude
