BROWN.....very LOW

What a crappy ending to an otherwise enjoyable night.

Scott West and Brad Johnson jumped out of the blocks well and West lead the Brownlow counting for most of the night.
If Jonathon Brown had been fit all year then this would have been a one horse race, sadly though he was out after round 10.
Luckily Daniel Kerr didnt have a cracker in the final round or he might have been number 4 to win the Brownlow only to be scratched due to suspension, he did punch Sam Mitchell in the nuts and deserved to get done.
So that leaves a three horse race, West, Judd and the Undeserving freak show that is Adam Goodes.

Adam Goodes would have to be the most over rated player to ever win a brownlow, not once but twice, this puts him into the ranks of Legendary players, How is this possible? he is a whiny, pathetic, average player.

How is it possible to poll 3 votes with 24 possesions and 5 marks?? when earlier Simon Goodwin from Adelaide had 32 possesions 8 marks and 2 goals and didnt even get a 1 vote.
Ill tell you how its possible, its possible because the Sydney Swans are the love child, pin up boys of the AFL and they are babied, they get salary cap concessions and all the other trimmings including cash hand outs year after year. Yes it seems that over the past two years the AFL has jumped off St Kilda and are now showing Sydney some Rectal loving.

I ask you where was Geelongs cash hand out when it was struggling?? For those wondering the answer is no where to be seen.
To Geelongs credit they devised a plan to become financially viable and make the club successful if not on the field then off it, never once putting there hand out or receiving anything off the AFL. 6 long hard years and they got themselves in front, now cash is handed out willy nilly and because the cats are viable again they get nothing.

The one and only thing Eddie Mcguire has gotten right is his stance on the concessions that Sydney receive, although Eddie is just having a sook he is right, why should Sydney get it better than any other club? afterall they play a SHIT style of footy that has ruined this great game. Anyway my feelings about Sydney are well documented. (see previous posts)

Scott West was robbed, Brad Johnson Unlucky. Jonathon Brown was a certainty if fit, Daniel Kerr missed a week from suspension and Judd missed 4 weeks injured. Umpires you are surely blind Simon Goodwin racked up 30 possesion games at least 3 times that went without a single vote, that is ridiculous.

I pray the umpires all get togethor and make a pact not to give Goodes any more votes, For a guy who is supposed to be such a role model and such a great player he sure does a lot of mouthing off and sooking to the umpires. About time the Umpires started rewarding players for GOOD games of footy and stopped rewarding who there told to by Andrew "Dumbarse" Demetriou.

Lets just hope that the Brownlow curse continues and Sydney get theres arses handed to them in the grand final, lets pray Goodes dont get a kick.
Ohh if only I could find a way to have Mark Yates running in off the line at the opening bounce, or Tony Lockett running out from full forward and Goodes dropping back with the flight. Either of those would make a frand final to remember, but instead we will have to put up with some low scoring, 7 to 8 goal game that sees the whole of Australia napping by halftime, thanks alot Sydney, and AFL fuck you for letting it happen.

GOODBYE TO ICONS

The last week was one of the most surreal of my life.
Australia lost two of its true legends in Steve Irwin and Peter Brock.
Both men tragically lost there lives doing the things they loved most, taken by freakish accidents.

THE CROCODILE HUNTER

Steve Irwin was an inspiration to us all. He had tremendous views on conservation and the protection of all animals. He stuck to what he believed in no matter what, he was widely criticised for the "Baby Bob Incident" but he was just doing what his dad had done with him.

Steve Irwins "Australia Zoo" is a remarkable place and I enjoyed my visit there 2 years ago tremendously, unfortunately Steve wasnt present that day but the whole staff share in Steves attitude and enthusiasm in presenting there much beloved and cared for animals.

Lets hope that Steve's legacy lives on and although his children are currently too young to step straight into dads shoes, im sure under the careful guidance of Steves dad and there mum Terri, Bindi and Bob will one day take over the family business.

More importantly its upto each and every one of us to pitch in and help keep Steves beliefs alive and well.

For those who dont approve of Steve's ways then you have your opinions, and at this time they need to be kept to yourself. You had your chance to plead your case, but 500 million tv viewers the world over plus many many more fans have spoken, the Jury is out.

Germaine Greer your pathetic effort to grab some attention is sickening, you will win no fans acting this way. You are truly one of the saddest most pathetic individuals on earth.

Steve your memory will live on in all of us for a very long time, your messages will not go unheard, rest peacefully knowing that your time on earth may have been short but far from wasted.

Deepest sympathies to Steves family and friends. The crew at Australia Zoo you are very brave for carrying on just as Steve would have wanted.

May the crocs in heaven be big and cranky, just how Steve would want them.

Steve Irwin 1962 - 2006 RIP

KING OF THE MOUNTAIN

Peter Geoffrey Brock or "Brocky" as he was known to us all was also tragically taken from us during the past week. Brocky also was doing what he loved when tragedy struck.

When I think of Peter Perfect I think of one thing only "BATHURST".
9 times he has conquered the mountain in 1972,1975,1978, 1979,1980,1982,1983,1984,1987

He also won the sandown unduro 9 times in 1973,1975,1976,1977,1978,1979,1980,1981,1984

Peter Brocks accomplishments at Bathurst will never be beaten, and thus his legend will live forever.
I was in support of naming the race after him although it looks now that authorities are not keen to pursue this idea, surely a significant part of the track should be renamed to honour his accomplishments, surely the Peter Brock s's or the Peter Brock Skyline wouldnt be out of order.

I remember as a kid having BMX races in our street, and it was always Bathurst, everyone wanted to be Peter Brock, you could guarantee a fight was going to decide who was Brocky.
Brocky in his latter years came to tassie and raced in the Targa, as well as in the Nations cup where Brocky ran his Monaro around Symmons Plains.

Peter "Brocky" Brock 1945 - 2006 RIP

May we never witness a week like that again
